PET/CT for cancers

The PET-CT system is one of the most modern imaging procedures used for diagnosing tumors. PET (Positron-Emission-Tomography) images demonstrate tumor metabolism, while the CT (Computed Tomography, we only use low-dose CT) images provide spatial resolution. Combining PET and CT makes it especially possible to locate malignant tumors, and to analyze the effect of a treatment, something not possible with other procedures. The cost of the PET-CT scan in Germany is currently only covered by social health insurance if approved in individual cases. (We will be happy to discuss this possibility with you.)

PET-CT may be indicated, for example, for the following malignant conditions:

  • Lung cancer
  • Colorectal cancer
  • Breast cancer
  • Lymphoma (malignant tumor of the white blood cells)
  • Testicular cancer
